Doctoral Student
Yizhan Gu is a 1st year Ph.D. student of Professor Jan Kleissl’s group, the Center for Energy Research in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UCSD. Yizhan is from Suzhou, China, and has graduated from the Harbin Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering, specializing in Electrical Engineering and Automation.
Yizhan is keen on playing the finger-style guitar and table tennis in his spare time, and as an INFP Leo, he has a delicate feeling about life and is willing to embrace everything in the future.
Yizhan’s interests focus on energy optimization, EV charging, machine learning, solar forecasting, and control of distributed energy resources. He hopes to improve charging efficiency and reliability with data-driven approaches and optimize energy transmission with control algorithms.
As an undergraduate at the Harbin Institute of Technology, Yizhan worked with Professor Dazhi Yang on the global classification of solar resources.
